Danielle da Costa Leite Borges is currently a postdoctoral research fellow at Scuola Superiore Sant’anna in Pisa. She holds a PhD in Law and a master degree in International, Comparative and European Law from the European University Institute (EUI). She also holds a master degree in Public Health from the Brazilian School of Public Health (ENSP/FIOCRUZ). In the last 10 years she has undertaken research in the fields of health, law and migration from the perspectives of human rights, judicial enforcement of socio-economic rights, and organisation and delivery of health care services. Her publications include peer reviewed articles, book chapters and a recent monograph entitled "EU Health Systems and Distributive Justice Towards New Paradigms for the Provision of Health Care Services?" (Routledge, 2016). She is a member of the Global Health Law Committee of the International Law Association (ILA) and of the advisory board of the EU Border Care project, a comparative study of the politics of maternity care among undocumented migrants on the EU’s peripheries, funded by an ERC Starting Grant (2015-2020).
